Does Airbnb cover charge backs for the host?
Lets say a guest stayed, then disputes it later, or for whatever reason Airbnb doesn’t get their payment from the guest. I’m sure it happens a lot, but i,m wondering if Airbnb covers it for the host. I’m pretty sure it happens a lot, like in every other business. Did it ever happen to you?
Short answer = no.
Airbnb makes it clear in it’s T&C’s and in it’s Help Centre that if a guest’s payment doesn’t go through the host rather than Airbnb loses out.
Avoid last minute bookings and never accept guests with ‘payment pending’ to minimise your risk.
Are you serious?! No comment. With the service fees, they are certainly can afford to cover charge backs. Whomever handles payment should be responsible for it.
If a booking comes trough, i assume payment went trough, i get payed a day after, i certainly don’t want to held accountable after the fact for frauds and scams, or insufficient funds.

What about if a guest threatens, after the reservation is over, to dispute CC charges because they are pissed about the review you left them?
Oh dear. I would definitely be in touch with Air about this. Such a user should be banned. Is it too much to hope that this threat is on the air platform.
It is indeed too much to hope. She sent text messages directly to my phone.
Regardless, I did call Air, and was told that first, it seemed extremely unlikely that any CC company would issue a chargeback in this situation, but even if they did, it would be Air that would pay, and not me.
What was their reaction to her making a threat? Are they going to let her stay on the platform?
Given they had no proof of the threat, because it was sent directly to my cell phone, Airbnb wasn’t overly concerned with it. However, this morning the guest shot herself in the foot by replying to the review I left. LOL, she called me a toothless hick and accused me of being racist, claiming my real problem wasn’t that she left the property in deplorable condition or that she booked & paid for 2 but had 4 to 6 stay, but that she and her boyfriend are black. Airbnb took that very seriously, immediately removed her reply to my review, and the CS agent sent it to Trust & Safety for possible termination of her account.
