Difficult guests

That seems wrong to me. I tell hosts OR guests IF I am going to leave a good review. If I am not going to, I don’t tip them one way or the other. Basically you are saying that you lie to your guests.

I have had guests go through a roll a day. And they’re doubles! You’d think they were eating them.

But I think she has a lot of cheek to complain with 6 adults in the house.

The water heater may have been overworked. Kind of like your patience.

And if you add “Guests don’t read” to this: We added our 3rd listing at the end of June and definitely attracted some difficult guests to it - I think they didn’t bother to notice that we were experienced hosts. It was interesting because it definitely seemed like we were getting the new-hosts treatment but we were very prepared. And won

Whatever, I am not going to suffer a bad review from a bad guest if I can help it.

2 guests, 5 days, 7 rolls of toilet paper! Not nicked, empty rolls in bathroom bin and they were in their 20’s…

TMI, but… Just left my latest Airbnb stay in Bologna, during which I must have eaten something… wrong. Very wrong. When I checked out, I apologized to the host for having used up almost all the TP supplied, which I had thought was more than plenty when I checked IN. I simply did not want her to think I was swiping the TP!

Sometimes people use a lot for reasons one might not suspect!

I only host solo guests. I leave 2 rolls of TP and have never had any guest require more, even ones who stay for my 2 week maximum, even the ones who get the “touristas” and might spend an entire day close to the toilet. And I host a lot of women, who obviously would go through more TP than men. Usually there is at least half a roll left over after a week-10 day stay.

I second this. It’s easy for older people or male hosts to forget.

That is a beautiful bathroom! You probably go through extra toilet paper just because people want to sit and admire it!

Seriously, though, that is a fantastic picture. Did you take it? What kind of lighting did you use?

I just couldn’t do this, if I tell someone they are getting five stars then they will get five stars. If I don’t say what you are getting, though, you might need to be worried…

I do the same thing, @georgiahost.

Thank you. Photo was taken by an AirBNB Plus contracted photographer / inspector.

No, no reason to voice displeasure, but telling someone they will get 5 stars then slamming them is not right. Just don’t say anything if you are not happy with them is my motto, then just do the review.

Well, I haven’t had many opportunities to give less than stellar reviews. Maybe two or three over the years. I think I’ve only once said we wouldn’t want to host a guest again. We really have great guests.

When I remember, as stellar guests leave, I say, “Thanks so much. We’ll be pleased to give you a great review and hope you come back to stay again!” As the less-than-stellar guests leave, I say, “Thanks so much. Safe trip home!”

Nothing dishonest there.

Why actively lie?………

I provide all of that and more. Full spice drawer (about 20 jars of herbs and spices) vinegars, condiments, (siracha - Frank’s Red Hot sauce - soy - Mayo - mustard - ketchup - relish,) I do an entire home rental and these items are for guest convenience.
Sorry about the heater… what a pain in the butt for you…

Weird the TP topic is back again. Only on the timing as I just checked in to an AirBnB half an hour ago for a 5 night stay. Host brought me another roll of paper without me asking so now I have 3 ?! I Thought that was nice of him but not necessary.

My male host right now must think along the same line as you. I have 2 full rolls and he got me a 3rd! Better safe than sorry

The TP discussion was on FB too, for days…
My contribution is that my bro doesn’t buy tissues - you know, the boxes of tissues? Not at his home or his cabin. Therefore everyone uses TP for their noses…this makes the use of TP skyrocket, especially in the winter when noses tend to run.

I know we aren’t hotels but when it comes to hospitality I do feel that they are the “experts” in many ways. One thing they do that I’ve copied is to supply an unlimited amount of TP. I feel it is the most basic amenity and there should be enough for everyone for the entire stay. I also think this is what most guests are going to think so it’s a worthwhile expense.

The last thing I ever want to deal with is a sick guest calling me to bring them toilet paper.

If I get a regular parade of guests who use “too much” I’ll raise my average price per day by a dollar so I can buy 25 more rolls of TP a month.

Do you say that on a message through the Airbnb platform? I can imagine some guest calling Airbnb to complain after getting a bad review, showing the CS agent how you said you were going to give a good review, then Airbnb’s inconsistent CS agent siding with the guest.
