Crypto Currency mining rigs,

This is a new one on me, so maybe a warning to my fellow host something to watch out for, my electric bill more than doubled on a 1 bedroom apartment that I have owned for 5 years, so I kind of know what the maximum would be, and we do include the electric, A guest last month bought crypto mining rigs with him, and if you know anything about them, they use a huge amount of power, about the same amount as a medium sized A/C unit, How do I stop this from happening again? Im not sure, that was a nasty thing to do They are well aware of how much electricity they use, plus they need all the A/C running to cool the place down,
There is not a lot I can do about it now as they have gone. It was a big shock when I got my bill,

It’s reprehensible and feels to me very much like stealing. I don’t know whether it would be considered that the guest was running a business, probably a grey area, but a pound to a penny they’ve established this as a modus operandi and will be getting away with it, both with past and future hosts, due to the time lag between the theft and discovery. Did they have many reviews? Reporting it to CS would be a start but unless you specifically state “no business activities” in your T&C’s they may not be interested.
It would be laugh if they tried it up here at our place, we just about manage to produce enough power to keep everything going as it is (wincing every time our guests use the toaster!)

All you can do is mention it in his/her review. You can also try to send a request for payment through Airbnb’s resolution center.

Our son-in-law has an app on his phone that tells him their real time use of electricity…might be worth looking into.
