My friend and I are looking for a property near Fort Lauderdale close to the airport or the port. Wondering what’s a better investment catering to yacht crew or vacationers?
The areas that are close to the port and the airport (depending on exactly where) aren’t great for vacationers. Yacht crews, anecdotally, want cheap accommodation.
Fifteen minutes drive from the port and airport can get you to right where vacationers want to be although property is more expensive.
Don’t forget crash pads for pilots and flight attendants. You need a connection to that demographic, but it’s attractive because all they do is sleep and they will re-book.
LOL I’m a flight attendant I have no desire to run a crash pad a lot of them in Florida are set up through hotels with free breakfast and shuttle service I can’t compete with that. Plus you end up with too many people in one space it can be a lot if drama.
My neighbour was cabin crew and he always stayed in a top hotel courtesy of the airline. Free wine too and as he didn’t drink, he used to bring it home for me
Yes while we are working hotels are covered. Crash pads are for commuters who live out of base and are in between trips… on their own $
Yes, sounds unworkable, and you would know! Some folks around here (DCA) seem to be offering that, and doing OK, or at least that’s what they report.
