Changing your listing title on Air - what are the consequences?

I’ve searched and searched and can’t find the answer.

Does anyone know: if you change the title of your listing do you lose all the reviews associated with the previous title?
ie. does it become like a brand new listing?

I’ve seen a number of listings where this has happened, ie. host has changed the name and nothing is linked. But things change on air so frequently I don’t know any more. Thanks in advance for any help.

No, it doesn’t not create a new listing. I’ve changed my title a few times until I found one I liked and there have been no problems or loss of previous data.

Thanks. Just to be 100% clear - you don’t lose the reviews associated with the previous title? Because that used to happen.

Accounts and their reviews are associated with the ID number assigned not by it’s physical title.

I’ve never known this to happen. I see listings in my area change all the time. I see others change to announce specials. I don’t think you’ve ever lost reviews. Your listing has a number associated with it. It is not the title that uniquely identifies it.

I change my listing title A LOT. In the fall I invite snow birds, in the spring I advertise to runners for the various marathons, if I get a cancellation or have a sudden vacancy, I put that date in the title showing it’s available. It is a great way to advertise and in no way affects the listing or reviews.

ok, thanks all. It’s not my experience looking at other listings - reviews are associated with a specific named listing and don’t show up with a new name. But maybe that’s changed.

Title of the listing does not matter – Air refers to them by number, not name…

No consequence; I’ve done it multiple times over the last 5 years.

Perhaps the ones you saw actually created new listings to intentionally lose previous reviews?

I have changed my listing title over the years and it was totally fine; it’s just like changing your pricing or any other detail of your listing.

A catchy title can attract the attention of potential guests, and it’s good to ring the changes with a bit of seasonal advertising, a few examples:

  • Summer retreat with BBQ, patio furniture and close to beach

  • Cosy winter bolthole, enjoy our hot tub, open fire and homely local pub

  • Calling all festival goers - enjoy home comforts near Glastonbury site.

As others have said, the title shouldn’t impact on your listings/reviews, so make the most of altering it to catch the eye of potential guests.

Yep. Exactly what I would have said!

Ditto…have changed my listing title many times…nothing else changes.

That must be the explanation as so many of you have said there are no consequences.

Thanks for all the replies, folks. Now all I have to do is persuade the owner to agree to it! (I’m co-host/manager on the listing)
