We are making a “Spacious loft studio” (as I like to describe it!) from our guest suite and I need to make some furnishing decisions. At the moment I’m trying to decide between a sofa or two easy chairs. I’m leaning towards chairs at the moment since the sofa could only be a two-seater (is that what’s called a love seat in the US?) which in practice I find is really only suitable for one person (or two who are very much in love).
Ikea has some very nice and surprisingly comfortable new chairs:
(also in grey, but I love yellow)
So, my respected founts of all Airbnb wisdom, which would you go for?
I would go for two chairs. I mean, what I see is an IKEA chair that I can put up my feet and read a book. As much as I love the person I travel with, some separation isn’t a bad thing. Especially if he is wiggly that day.
Oh, are you someone else who can’t sit and read with her feet on the floor then? I always have to sit with at least one foot tucked underneath me - shoes-off, of course!
And yes, I tried the chair in the shop - nice and roomy and comfortable …
It’s a very attractive chair and a fun color…however, I’m not sure it would have a long life in a rental. It’s a light solid color and I can just see the arms showing soil easily and perhaps a grease spot where the Mr. lays his head back to watch TV, or a back stain if he’s sweating…
Hmm, good point - don’t know if the cover is removable, but even so, a bit of a pain to have to wash it often … the dark grey is nice too, and I can always put a yellow cushion on it!
I love the yellow chair ! Thanks for letting me know this is new in IKEA: I am going to buy it for our Porto apartment . That is EXACTLY the color I needed.
I love the chair and I LOVE the grey!! But then I love grey in general. The nice thing about grey is it hides dirt and you can put just about any decorative pillows, rugs, etc. with it. I wish I had somewhere to put this chair.
Blimey! That’s an outrageous difference. Unfortunately I already have 22 chairs in the house, sorry 23, and two sofas. Then there are another three sofas up in the summer house. Madness arising from selling our house in France a few years ago…
