Buying new sets of sheets and towels

I need recommendations on buying new sets with a reasonable price aroud Boston?

I’ve started buying sheets from second hand stores like Value Village, Salvation Army, and Goodwill (I don’t know what the equivalent is in Boston!). I always buy white sheets so I can bleach them, so I get them home, put them in the washing machine for a good clean, and they are ready to go! The guests can’t tell the difference (nobody expect brand new sheets anyway, not even in hotels), and I’ve gotten some really good quality things for really low prices.

There are lots of threads on sheets already here on the forum. Just use the search function of the site. With the internet the whole world is “around Boston.”

Personally I’d search online. Starting with Amazon, probably.

I went this these for towels: not luxury, but good price '/ not cheap quality either.

I don’t think you can beat Costco for towels. Since I have a double bed instead of a queen or king I can’t get sheets there so can’t comment on that.

I chose the Wamsutta sheets, Egyptian cotton, at Bed Bath and Beyond. Just about 20% of my guests have asked for the name of the sheets. They are lasting really well. No discernible wear after 18 months.

We have friends that own a vacation rental and they swear by these sheets:

$23 for a 4-piece set of queen sheets. And it looks like they are running a promotion - buy four, get 18% off. That’s under $20 a set and very hard to beat that price!

They sent us a set and we are sleeping on them now. Very soft. Hard to tell how they will hold up - but for $20 per set it is hard to go wrong.

Marshalls Home Store you have them there

I’ve tried two or three kinds of microfiber sheets and I just can’t stand them.

Ikea! They will ship it to you.

The are decent and I personally replace them every 8-12 months or so. For the price it’s worth it. I get the higher thread ones.

Target. Threshold brand white cotton sheets. I generally order mine online although in LA, like Boston, there are many Target stores around. https://www.target.com/p/ultra-soft-fitted-sheet-300-thread-count-threshold-153/-/A-13973172

Yeah, like K9 said, I absolutely cannot stand microfiber. It’s cheap and very itchy. And the sheets start to “pill” up and lose their smoothness after about 2-3 months (especially with guests making love on them).

I am only replying because I thought you’d like to hear from someone with a progressive neurological disease who suffers from extremely severe chronic pain. The microfiber would “Indian sunburn” or just plain ole irritate the daylights out of my skin (Neuropathy and Allodynia are a hell of a combo! Add severe insomnia, Andy I’m a total mess! LOL). Just wanted to share my reasons for hating microfiber.
