I just might print that and put it up in the guest room. Could be a good idea for all hosts who live where insects are prolific.

Excellent idea. It’s great to deal with problems using humour.

Humor can definitely help put things into perspective and often help others to realize how silly it would be to complain about something.

I suspect that many (or most?) of my guests think I’m a daft old bat because I rattle on and laugh a lot but it goes a long way towards defusing situation.

As you know @muddy I’m like you in that I’ve never had a guest that I couldn’t deal with to my satisfaction and I’m sure that humour has played a large part in that over the years.

Let’s hear it for DOBs! (daft old bat). Especially good with fragile Millenials - leave them shaking their head - and smiling!

Last night I had a young talker in the kitchen - we were eating a slice of hubby’s pineapple upside-down cake. When the monologue was getting tiresome, I jumped up from the table, “I’ve just got to go outside and listen to the rain - enjoy your cake!” I laughed, she laughed. Daft, yes. Did she take offense? Maybe- she probably thought she was doing an old lady a favor- “entertaining” me . It’s hard to be annoyed while eating cake.

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but you just can’t post other peoples copyrighted cartoons without permission and fees, nor can you print it out and hang it up. US copyright law doesn’t require you to have to put the copyright symbol.

My job is to sell the reprint usage rights for a cartoonist. Here’s a really old cartoon (copyright 1997) that the cartoonist did that I represent. The gag has been around for a while. Please do not post without permission.
