@RiverRock, @bigappledude and I are sadly sharing the news here today that @jaquo passed away last week after a brief illness. Her husband let us know yesterday and today he shared this message with me:
I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Jackie in person but I know from her posts here that she lived life with gusto and a positive attitude unmatched by any. She was the picture of professionalism to a degree I admired and couldn’t pull off. She was a great writer and we were lucky to have her here.
While I’ve taken my Airbnb off the market for now, I have popped in occasionally and will continue to do so. I have great affection for the connections I’ve made here and the several hosts here whose Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in.
It’s a great reminder to not take anything or anyone for granted.
I’ll miss you, Jackie, and will tip one back in your memory tonight.
Rest in Peace, Jackie. I also didn’t know her personally, but felt I did from many years on this forum. I always appreciated her point of view and stellar sense of humor. I’m sure she will be sorely missed by all the regulars here.
I’ll miss her, five stars all round. There aren’t really all that many regular contributors to this forum and so when someone as positive, steadfast and cheery as Jaquo checks out we’re all the poorer for it.
While I don’t check in as much as I once did, I was shocked to hear this news about Jaquo. Incredibly sad and I wish her husband and family all the best. She was very even tempered and tried to keep things on an even keel.
RIP Jacquo, I also appreciated her dedication and commitment to sharing with others and making such a difference to the world of hosting. She will be missed. Condolences to her loved ones. D
As long as there’s enough hangars, she’ll forgive some of the other niggly details.
A dearth of hangars in places she booked always seemed to be one of her pet peeves.
