Anyone else having trouble with the AirBnb Calendar?

Seriously struggling to select dates to mark as unavailable. I always mark the Christmas period unavailable in early Spring, yet a request to book has just come through. Any help much appreciated.

Do you have instant book or not? I do, and I occasionally get inquiries (I can’t actually remember if they are inquiries or requests to book) for days that are not available on my calendar. I just assumed that someone (perhaps using a flexible search option) found my place and then wanted to book for specific dates that my place wasn’t available and thought they’d shoot their shot anyway. Not sure. Would be good to hear what other people here say…

Airbnb did something in one of their latest updates that apparently made it impossible to block dates on your calendar beyond your regular availablity settings. So, for instance, if you only have your calendar open to bookings three months in advance, you can’t block dates around Christmas in August- you have to wait until your calendar advances, the dates you want to block open up, and then block them.

I use the 3 month availability setting, had a repeat guest direct book for mid-Dec, way back in August, but I had to block her dates as they became available. Big, unnecessarily time-consuming pain in the butt.

However, a request to book would not be possible for dates that show as blocked, so either it was an inquiry you got rather than a request, or your availability window is such that all of December was showing as available because the block you put on in early spring didn’t stick.
