Acrobatic chair

I have some older, but still in good shape, mesh sling garden chairs that have a short metal rod at the top to support the mesh. One of the chairs was hit by a branch and the rod fell out. I put the rod by the shed so my brother could repair it next week. The awning is attached to the house, no supports that touch the ground, its 12 feet above the ground.
As I looked out from my deck this morning, I was surprised to see the metal rod on the awning over the outdoor dining area. Asked the guests how this came to be. All denied any knowledge, one told me it was there when they came. (Not true)
Here’s the explanation that was offered via message. “As for the piece of chair on the awning, we do not know where that came from. Our assumption is that the chair was hooked on the awning and it flew up some how. I can tell you for a fact that we did not purpously throw it up there. We took it down and fixed the chair. I am sorry if it looked that way.”
