AirCover coverage

I’m in a Facebook group for AirBnB hosts. There are two posts on there right now about guests asking for a check-in 5 hours earlier than the check-in time on the listing.

Doesn’t AirCover only provide coverage during the “official” stay? In other words, if a guest checked in 5 hours early and ended up causing damage, would AirCover apply…or would the claim be denied because the stay hadn’t officially started yet?

I’ve tried finding the info on AirBnB’s website but I can’t locate it. I’m hoping someone here in the hive mind knows the answer.

I can’t imagine you would get any definitive answer from Airbnb you could trust. And since they seem to do as much as possible to keep from paying out on Aircover, this would be a perfect excuse for them to deny a claim.

My guess is that the timing of the damage would be hard to prove and a clever host would certainly claim it was during the official hours of the stay.

Yet another reason for hosts to have their own STR insurance…
