I’ve been an Airbnb host for approx 5 years & have enjoyed meeting the majority of guests, albeit only briefly during check in.

My holiday apartment is located approx 25 kms away from where I live, and altho I meet most guests, I do use a third party for cleaning & occasional check-ins. I prefer the personal touch of meeting face to face as opposed to directing them to a key safe/drop box to self check-in.

I’ve stayed at a couple of hosted Airbnbs (shared space), but my personal preference is to stay in self-contained accommodation as I value my privacy.
