Why can't I block dates after sending preapproval?

This is often true of apps vs going directly to a website. Definitely there are certain features missing from the app that can only be handled on a non-handheld at the website.

This is the real issue. How frustrating!!! Have they offered you any solution? (Of course not). Likely something is corrupted (data). I know this doesn’t help you, but when we troubleshoot things like this in the IT world, we would start by turning off as many features as we possibly could, one at a time, refreshing to see what it changed. And then possibly starting to turn things back on to see what happens, one at a time.

Of course the last ditch result would be what you were suggesting, which seems to not be possible, which would be to restore your listing from a non-corrupt back up, if such a thing even existed.

So sorry. Honestly, by now I probably would’ve started a new listing all together and link my calendars to see if that was even functional. Then I would start filling out my listing info (cutting & pasting where I could).

It’s the old default IT reboot “solution” when you don’t really know what happened and you don’t know how to fix it. Sort of like you had to do with your account here.

Are you sure that you never “tried out a channel manager”? Because that is what can happen, and it can actually be a PITA to get rid of it, even from the channel manager itself. We have already tried a few of them …

@aelilya, appreciate your suggestions!

Tried phone and message support and the most I got is totally irrelevant links to “how to” articles.

Back in August I thought they finally deleted the 2nd inactive listing, but no such luck with that either, it “came back.”

I can’t do that because I have hardly any internet. Been waiting for the SpaceX sat service since March, which has been available 6 miles from my house (at the rental). I pay about $250/month for internet at my house to 3 different companies and switching from one to the other all day, trying to get a working connection, keeps me busy and extremely frustrated.

That’s why I still don’t have my own site.

That’s not an option for me, I’ve worked way too hard, had no profit after the countless repairs and upgrades, but I want to be able to link to the listing at Air so potential guests can see the 123 reviews.

One time Air allowed a BAD review from a guest who never made it to the rental because my rating is good anyway. They have ZERO respect for how hard I work. I’m a human being and deserve RESPECT. Especially because they made a lot of money off my work and I didn’t.

It’s been very slow in my area, haven’t had a booking since July since most of my guests were foreigners going to the Skywalk or boaters (the boat launch at Lake Mead closed in June due to lack of water), but I read that the borders will open in November.

I truly despise corporations like Airbnb, don’t know how VRBO can offer such outstanding support. Called VRBO the other day, no hold, immediately got the answer to my question from a real person. Unbelievable!

Just wish I’d signed up with VRBO much sooner and had the 123 reviews there.

I guess I can somehow stop the Air calendar import to VRBO and Google and then block the entire Air calendar. But then nobody will find it except from direct links.

I can probably update the listing description now too, although the thought of having to do that on my phone seriously raises my blood pressure.

My preferred solution would be to alert potential guests to other platforms in the Air listing description. I always charge more at Air because it’s so stressful, maybe I should just raise the nightly rate so nobody will book, but leave the calendar open.

Maybe I can figure out how to accomplish that without Air shutting me off entirely.

@Jefferson Sometimes I wonder.

I don’t drink, can’t imagine that I’d forget! I’m also pretty good with taking notes for new “important” accounts. And with Covid I was not exactly gearing up for lots of bookings, even had and still have instant booking off.

I cannot comprehend why Airbnb has such a dysfunctional website.

I know my Air exports because the dates I blocked earlier today show as blocked by Air on Google calendar. Yet, Air claims there’s no calender import or export.

So now you got me 2nd guessing myself about a property management thing.

Why would I think that it WOULD show up at Air?

Assuming I DID sign up one late night somewhere, why is that Air message no longer there now?

Now, just thinking out loud…I see even on new listings it will show the host has hundreds of reviews on other properties they host. Of course, with all your trouble, I can see why you would wish not to invest any further with Air.

This may sound cheesy, but can you screenshot your listing showing you are the host and showing your review count and rating? Maybe screen shot all the written reviews and pick 2 or 3 of your favorites? Then include those pictures in whatever other place you will have your listing. No one is going to read the actual 123 reviews anyway, just the last few. Then you could snooze the Air listing for now until you feel like messing with it again. If it is snoozed it should not block you on Vrbo (anyone who knows better, chime in!), esp. since the calendar link doesn’t work for you anyway.

And maybe do all of this somewhere you have better internet access for an afternoon, if possible?

@christineAZ1 This may be a silly question, but do you have a good cell signal even though you have lousy internet? That’s the case where I live.

If so, you know you can use your computer by tethering it to your phone and using your cell phone data?

It’s too bad you cannot take your computer elsewhere with good internet for a few hours and make some better progress. I can’t imagine the frustration! Aside from all the hassles with AirBNB, it would make running an online-dependent business hard. But, 123 reviews, you must be doing something right!

This is my plan for my own website. I was a real estate broker 30 years ago and in my very first continuing education seminar I learned how to make up resumes and even provide fake phone references. I know how much value to attribute to the “testimonials”.

That’s why I want to be able to link to the listing with the real review so people can check.

I even bought a 2nd monitor to keep at the rental, was going to work there, but an afternoon isn’t nearly enough. I expect to spend at least 100 hours and the software I used for many years no longer works, they went out of business.

I got new software now, but have to learn it, watch tutorials, deal with support … wait for answers.

I’ve looked at booking calendars, plugins, there’s much to consider and research. And the last few weeks I’ve been sanding doors and refinishing furniture at the rental since it was so dead anyway. And I’ve had to get the winter greens ready at my little farm and the kitchen is full of baskets with peaches

Never enough hours in the day!

That’s what I often do to check mail, since my new prepaid ATT service block the mail port and I can’t check mail through it. The other service is often so slow it just disconnects.

I’m at the end of the line for our local DSL and in 2019 they simply canceled my repair tickets (after 4 unsuccessful attempts to restore the service)

I then tried Verizon “unlimited” cell data, have in chat that it’s unlimited hotspot, but they lied and it cost me a fortune.

The Walmart Total Wireless actually works best, still slow, but I can check email and usually pages load).

I could watch Netflix all day and all night with no problem, but web pages often don’t load right. As at VRBO the other day, I couldn’t edit blocked dates and called them, only to find out that the hover edit button didn’t show up because I had to reload the page.

I’ll just have to somehow manage until Starlink goes live everywhere, hopefully SOON.

YUM!!! That’s the best; your own beautiful, delicious farm fresh fruits and vegetables! I have pecans coming out of my ears but boy do tree ripened peaches sound exquisite. :yum:
