It seems to me that those categories would only be of value and used by guests who are free to travel anywhere, and have no set reason for going to A as opposed to B, like digital nomads.
I could see someone who works from home thinking “I’d like to escape the cold and be at the beach. Let’s see what’s available, anywhere.”
But I can’t imagine most guests search like that.
It was after Chesky made his purported year-long, around the world, stay at Airbnbs, trip that the categories were introduced. Maybe he figured just because he wanted to and could afford to travel to and stay in castles or whatever, anywhere, that those categories would be of value to the average guest.
