@Coho - why allow day guests at all? Of course, it depends on your clientele, but we’ve decided our guests don’t need any day guests at all. However, very occasionally, there will be a larger group that splits up and some stay at a different place than ours. Unfortunately, when that happens, the other group always hangs out at our house except to sleep, so we basically end up with a higher occupancy.
I’ve created a “day pass”, where they can purchase a visit to our home between the hours of 8 am and 10 pm, for anyone besides the group that booked. Haven’t had a group try it yet - we’ll see how it goes!
As you say, the likelihood of day visitors depends on the location and the guests. We often get guests who are visiting relatives or friends in the area and want to bring them round for a short while to show off where they are staying. Sometimes it’s for an hour or so before they head off to dinner. So saying no visitors at all would be just a bit draconian for us. Guests usually tell us in advance that they are expecting visitors, which is good.
I wouldn’t mind a bit if they just invited the rest of their group over for a cocktail before they head out to dinner. It’s the “rent a cheap place nearby to sleep and hang out at the nice place with the pool that my friends rented” that bothers me.
