I have one that is somewhat newer. Like ten years old that I put under my desk when it’s below zero. It’s 1000 Watts but it oscillates and blows nice warm air at me. It costs a fortune to run. I wonder if there are more efficient ones now?
EDIT: My space heater is actually 1500 watts. Holy electric bill!
@jaquo a space heater at 60 degrees! Ha! We have those (warm days) from time to time in the winter months and everyone is wearing shorts!
Most of my guests have windowbangers, and they are very good about turning them off. Left to their own devices, a surprising number of them don’t use them.
No heat, regular central air in the two rentals and each has the space heater - no other form of heat. In our own apartment there’s no central air just a wall unit - not a lot of use to be honest.
We’ve had a space heater for only a couple of years and used it very infrequently. Before we had it, I just used to switch the oven on for a few minutes - the place is so tiny that would heat it up fine
That’s hilarious! I really dislike the heat, especially when I sleep. I keep the thermostat (at night only) set at 50-55 degrees fahrenheit in winter months. I’m sure my future guests in winter months will be thrilled with that ! I’m guessing I’ll have to let that go and turn it to a reasonable temp. I’ll just open my windows and shut the vents in my room.
Don’t I wish! Love Florida, love HI and tropical destinations. Love coming home too, back to my cool Icy world. @KKC swamp cooler works great til August, then it’s too dang hot (100 ish to get it below 80 degrees Fahrenheit.) @jaquo You can always bundle up, but there’s only so many clothes you can shed and still be hot!
I am too. Very narrow comfort zone. My swamper is cranking right now, and I’m thinking about a hoodie. Or bed. The latter is probably the wiser decision.
In cooler weather as well as wearing more layers (silk vest etc. is definitely the thing), it’s also possible to move more or eat hot food. The joy of cooler weather is the choice of how you feel! If it’s hot once you’ve taken all your clothes off and flaked out what on earth else is there to do?
Anyway what is a narrow comfort zone? Mines probably a 10 degrees C range (about 10 to 20), more if I have a swimming pool etc…
