Responsible adults usually fess up to breaking something (and are careful in the first place, altho accidents can happen to anyone) and offer to reimburse without being asked, so the concept of requesting payment from people who don’t do that, will more often than not be met with refusal, I would imagine.

Guests have to verify themselves with a gov’t ID- so does airbnb allow them to open up another account and close a prior- this sounds like a recipe for disaster. How do you ask for a deposit- you mean if they mention or act like a third party booker?
