Some costs/improvements might not be considered “expenses” but will instead be added to the “cost basis” of your home.
Yes, I considered doing some of that but for me it seemed like more work than it was worth. I just expensed it.
The upgrades go into the value of my home (same place), like adding a bathroom, so that was wrapped into depreciation.
