I’m so sorry this occurred. You were smart to have your sister present. I would’ve been so surprised by their behavior, I’m not sure I would’ve had the presence of mind to do that.

Thank you for sharing your experience -it gave me a learning opportunity.

Hindsight is 20/20–if I ever must deal with a similar situation I’m going to record the conversation using my phone record function and ask my witness to record video.

I should have done that, I don’t know why I didn’t think to do that. Maybe because I’m used to my job and confidential overrode my thinking.
Definitely will record if ever another incident happens, (please no).
Good luck with yours. This is only my 2nd year, I’m still on the learning curve.

I’ve been an Airbnb host since 2014–I think we will always be learning. I’ve been fortunate to not have anything scary or terribly damaging—yet.

As most people here know, I’ve been hosting in some form or another since 1980 and have never had anything scary or terribly damaging.

Weird, yes. Irritating, certainly. Bizarre, from time to time. Annoying, once in a while. Daft, now and again. Unfathomable, without doubt …
