You are correct, it isn’t outrageous. I painted my bath cabinet and purchased a new sink with fittings (all were on clearance $230/reg $450 USD) then paid another $150 for the installation.
I have installed bathroom sinks before but I couldn’t lift the heavy old sink by myself, plus I was busy with a new job so I paid someone else.
A friend was renovating at 1950’s beach canal house and lucked into beautiful granite countertops that she was able to have recut & installed for 1/3 or less of the cost of new fabrication. The countertops didn’t look like they had ever been used/installed. The deal!!!
UPDATE 13 September 2019 - I have today received full payment from Airbnb under the Host Guarantee Scheme. It took a while to get through to them - there’s no way to contact them directly, and I did go on Twitter to rant about it, but credit where credit is due, they paid without a quibble.
This is great to hear. I’m sure lots of people get paid, they just don’t post on forums. And how did is all work out with the guest? She refused to pay anything and so didn’t have to contribute? I’m just curious from a guest point of view. If something breaks while I’m staying somewhere maybe I should refuse to pay and tell the host to get Airbnb to cover it with their guarantee?
Thanks for returning with the final resolution.
as an aside the word scheme seems to be popping up a lot here in the last couple of days:
As a noun it’s completely innocent as in "the Airbnb scheme known as ‘Open Homes.’ " As a verb it’s negative: “make plans, especially in a devious way or with intent to do something illegal or wrong.”
And this is the first time you’ve noticed you had a chance? LOL. Wake up! Sometimes I find old posts of mine that have an error and no one said a thing and there I am editing two years later.
