I also have a white sage smudge stick and I use an abalone shell when I smudge. I think it makes a difference, especially after difficult guests and I like the smell.

I disagree with this assessment and I also disagree with people who believe they KNOW they NEVER rent to locals.
There are plenty of guests who live somewhere today different than where they lived when they created the profile. Or they listed that they live in a place they never have actually lived. An IB host has no way of knowing FOR CERTAIN that some local creep whose profile says he lives 1000 miles away didn’t rent the place just to copy the key and commit nefarious acts.
It’s improbable, but I have watched enough true crime and fictional horror films that my imagination would be running wild, too, if I were the guest and thought I heard someone in the house.
A good reason to ditch old fashioned keys IMO. Codes just get erased. That gives me a lot more peace of mind as a guest and host.
