Short Term Rental Insurance latest?

A couple of years ago, someone recommended Sean Murphy to me as an insurance broker. He’s kind of a specialist in STR insurance, and had no problem finding me something reasonable, even though I’m in a different state. He’s listed as a Farmer’s agent, but deals with all the options. https://agents.farmers.com/il/worth/sean-murphy

In my case Proper was $20 less than American Modern.

Thank you, will check him out!

Not in CA, but I switched to Allstate from MetLife and not only did they cover the STR as part of our home policy (attached rental unit), but the overall policy was significantly cheaper.

Hmmmm. I guess I got a better deal because I’m bundling with all of my other USAA products.

I really don’t get it, why is STR insurance so expensive in the US?

We just renewed a few weeks ago, Lloyd’s of London policy issued via a broker in Gibraltar, each apartment roughly €130 p.a. for a holiday let policy that comes with €2,000,000 public liability cover.

That policy also includes building and contents.

Parties, and the coverage of them. Plus home insurers have been hit over past several years with hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and cyclones, and wildfires.

I’ll bet North American weather generates a lot more claims than European weather.

Insurance company risk analysts in the US are paranoid. My broker told me that insurance rates for my limo are twice what I used to pay insure a taxi because folks who hire limos already have lawyers — or they are one.
