Scottsdale, Arizona requires AirBnB hosts to do background checks on guests

Licenses are available from Scottsdale AZ city officials starting this week. Law takes effect in January.

The unusual thing is the background check. If the ordinance limits this to registered sex offender status, then hosts can look it in the national database quite easily. One needs the guest’s full name, which means if there’s two guests, you have to get the full name out of the guest who made the booking.

It’s a background check only for sex offender, and only of the booking guest.

See here.

Thanks for posting this. They also require a map showing the evacuation path in case of fire. I’ve been meaning to do this and your post has lit a fire for me to get that done. [Oops! Now I really got to get going!]
