I said a number of times : NO IDEA. I DON’T KNOW. Shame you missed them.
Wow, really? The question is whether they’ll do anything about these issues.
Thank you @anon67190644 for providing an answer.
absolutely ridiculous. The CS is awful and does not care about hosts…only the guests. Be very very cautious.
I was a guest in this situation And they didn’t care lol.
Actually you danced around with answering the questions! You said you could understand and empathise with why the pregnant guest didn’t want to travel but you wouldn’t explain any more. I was trying to learn is all…
I am not sure I understand. Are you saying that you are the guest, and you got pregnant? And you believe that you are then entitled to a refund? Are you saying that the host, the owner, should issue a refund for a pregnancy under extenuating circumstances?
Lol no; guest got pregnant and got a refund.
But there’s another issue in this thread where I was a guest with an issue and very nearly didn’t get a refund.
Feel free to peruse my screen grabs where I say both ‘I don’t know’ and ‘no idea’ in my answers.
I am not the enemy here, no need to attack like I am somehow responsible for Airbnb’s decision making.
In that case I dont have to offer you any congratulations
You should probably re-read your own screen grabs because all you do is contradict yourself. If you have NO idea why an early pregnant guest would not want to fly, then it’s a bit contradictory for you to say you wouldn’t want to take the risk yourself, and you can empathise with WHY she wouldn’t want to fly.
Yet, at the same time you have no idea if it is even risky?? Re-read your own posts!
You aren’t supposed to fly in your last month. Any other time is okay unless the doctor has given you bed rest or something, in which case you shouldn’t even be walking around your house.
Early this year I had a guest book who was already pregnant. She and her husband were planning to stay here as a pre-baby-chaos trip. She cancelled because it was at a time when there was a Zika scare in Miami. (I’m north of Miami but never mind).
She had booked well in advance so was entitled to a refund even though I have strict but even if she hadn’t I would have still agreed to a refund as I would have done the same in her situation.
Don’t put words in my mouth.
Per the terms of service Americans deal with Airbnb, Inc., Chinese deal with Airbnb China, everyone else deals with Airbnb Ireland.
I believe that American customer service representatives may be more slanted toward giving customers a refund because that is a big part of our culture. Americans are from what I understand more used to being able to return purchases and procure refunds when they are subjectively dissatisfied than people in other countries.
From the Terms of Service:
If you are using the Site, Application or Services and you reside in the USA, these Terms of Service are between you and Airbnb, Inc. If you reside outside of the USA and the People’s Republic of China (which for purposes of these Terms of Service does not include Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) (hereinafter “China”), these Terms of Service are between you and Airbnb Ireland. If you reside in China, these Terms of Service are between you and Airbnb Internet (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (“Airbnb China”) except where you book Accommodation or when you create a Listing outside of China, in which case these Terms of Service are between you and Airbnb Ireland for that transaction.
Lol. You were asking for detail I couldn’t give… as if I was the person who wrote the medical note and knew the exact reason they got extenuating circumstances. I see nothing wrong with saying that I don’t know why they couldn’t travel, but that I could understand their concern as it was their first child. I didn’t pry; it wasn’t my right to pry !
Walking way from this one now. Laters.
The reason you aren’t allowed to fly in the last month is not because it’s unsafe, but because airlines don’t want you to deliver in flight. I have a cousin who was born in Maryland instead of Los Angeles because of this rule.
Actually Zandra - I was not asking for the exact reason a Dr. said her pregnancy was at risk. I was just trying to find out if it was a true medical reason, or if the woman just didn’t “feel like flying” anymore. Nothing more…
And I was trying to learn something about pregnancy…and sorry I ever even asked!
The guest wasn’t in their last month… they were in their first trimester. But yes I know about not flying in the last month though I admit I’ve never concerned myself with the reasons why
