Response to Great Stay / Low Rating

It’s not just AirBnB that misuse the rating system – it happens for sellers on Amazon and something else I do but my mind just went blank. The thing is, why do they have 1 to 5 if 3 isn’t neutral? There are a lot of people, especially older folk, who still see the ratings as they “used to be” – ie 4 is good but 5 is reserved for exceptional, over the top. I had been told that once I got five five star ratings that would be a milestone and then I could go up on my prices. I had four stays with 5 stars and my fifth guest left me a 4 (the 4’s were on location and value which… the location is amazing… at least wasn’t on cleanliness). So I messaged her and asked her what I could have done to make it a 5 star experience for her and she said “oh, I never leave 5 stars”.
It’s really crazy that the drop off after 5:00 is like a cliff.
