I think some concise (but friendly) clarification by the host would be helpful or they might start hosting guests who unnecessarily bring their own pots and pans and pillows.

The management company has a checklist. It includes the more important things like the bikes, etc. It’s not feasible to have them inventory every plate, glass, etc

Um, if the cleaners are doing a thorough job, they should be checking all kitchen items- from air fryers, to plates and glasses, pots and pans & down to silverware as part of normal checklist. It is the ideal opportunity to inventory everything in the rental, including furniture, art, linens, kitchen items, etc.
As someone else said, sleeps 6, but only 5 plates or glasses? Perception is everything…
