I have a friend from Lagos Nigeria and she told me how when she was young, she would go with her mother the butcher to buy meat. The butcher had pieces of raw meat on display laying on a table and her mother would pick up several of the pieces to find one she wanted. Her mother would then wipe the blood and fat from her fingers on the paper money that she used to pay the butcher. Ewwww!
