Married to an entomologist- cool. That’s what I should have gone into- I find insects fascinating. There are thousands of different kinds where I live in Mexico.
Some I have only seen once in 20 years.

Yes, it definitely helps when someone shows any kind of fear of an insect that my husband can introduce him/her to what is fascinating about it. His goal is always to help people overcome their fears of creepy crawlies.
Well, at least you didn’t have a huge rat on the counter eating their food at night … and they were on their honeymoon. OMGosh I feel for you. My cabin has a crawl space where the air conditioner is. We live in AZ and the critters love to bite their way through the flimsy air vents and make their way to the kitchen. And on top of that- my air conditioning cools off under the cabin instead of the home.
My advise is to respond that you have pest control continually and that although you do what you can, it is the country and at times they may sneak in.
I’d also put in there that next time they let you know and you will be over immediately to remedy the problem. Nothing you can do after the fact.
Yes! Absolutely. I also just ordered a natural essential oil-based product that’s supposed to repel spiders. It has spearmint, peppermint and lemongrass so as a bonus it’s supposed to smell good too. I plan on spraying a bit in the corners and by window frames to see if that helps too
Too funny—Took me back to growing up in the Appalachian mountains. Dad very quietly woke me, carried me to the car. The family checked into a hotel. A skunk had moved in under the house.
Opossums & raccoons were routine. Evict & patch. Skunks, not so much.
A palmetto bug came home with me. I was side sleeping dozing off. Something massive runs across the pillow, I barely see it. Screaming. Dogs pushed off bed. I leaped about 20 feet straight up.
I see it scurrying. Tissues grabbed. Dogs circling “what issss it? What’s happening?” I grabbed it & flushed it. No stomping-huge mess. Whew over.
1 week later what I thought was a mouse dashed under a cart. I couldn’t find it. Dogs are mousers and were not interested. (Rodents are incredibly alluring to them) Two days later my barrier spray had been effective & I found him flipped & barely alive.
I hope it was two males. Now I’ve gone nuts with barrier bug spray.
I should add that I put those plug in things that emit a high sound in my upstairs and down stairs and it got rid of lots of insects. I think they are totally worth it and most people think they are a nightlight.

I have a home in the country and recently had an unfounded review of a guest seeing a bug on her son’s pant leg and she claimed it was a bed bug. Of course I took this very seriously and thankfully no such thing was discovered. However, in my check in details I state "Please note we are in the country and while cleaning staff comes after each guest you may find a few insects, who live rent free, in my home. Lady bugs, stink bugs and spiders just to name a few. I apologize for these guests and will have them evicted at the next cleaning.
