My account is locked for security reasons

That is great news! Thank goodness they were actually on the ball with your issue, unlike so many others.

Are your future bookings all there? Any word as to payout for the recent stay?

I lose all reservations in September. And I received the email for issuing the payment of the reservations I host only after the account was restored. I guess I will not receive the payment if the account is locked. I am still asking Airbnb what causes the ERROR.

Are you able to lookup the future reservations and contact info that have been cancelled? I expect not but worth looking anyway. If somehow they are there, you may consider trying to direct book?

As others have noted, it is good policy to copy booking contact info as they are made. We do this “most of the time”, but do need to make it a 100% standard.

The situation really really sucks. I’m surprised they fixed it so quickly. Very lucky - good for you!

FYI - you will never get clarity as to what caused the error. The person looking into it probably has no visibility into actual root cause, and would not be permitted to share if they did know anything.

The first thing you should do is make sure you have a copy of the booking info and phone number for every booking on your computer or device, and keep saving them every time you book. That way you’ll be able to reach guests even if Air’s servers come under attack or the San Andreas Fault jumps six feet.

I found it easy to create a spreadsheet, which also made it easy to compute and report sales and room tax to my local government.

Very good advice. Even if you never have such issues with Air again, they can get the tax info wrong and you will want all the data saved.

This data will also be good for direct booking marketing activities in the future.

I am having the same problem now!! can’t get help from anywhere, all my bookings were cancelled and can not contact my guests…what should i do…

I am having the same issue right now ! all my bookings were cancelled and cant get help from anywhere… what should i do ?

My Airbnb account is locked, and all my bookings are cancelled and refunded for the reason I am not aware of. I keep contacting Airbnb for the past 24 hours and they only say I have to wait until a specialist contacts me. I am more worried about my upcoming guests who I am sure are struggling to find another accommodation this short term. Any thoughts?

what happened to your account?

I appreciate your concern about the guests with cancelled reservations. If you have their contact information contact them.

At this time your focus needs to get Airbnb to respond. Have contacted them on Twitter?

not yet. I will now. thank you

This old conversation needs to be closed now.

When you find out what happened, please come back and let us know!

You’ll find old but pertinent advice here about logging guest contact info immediately upon booking. Do it every single time.

I’ve read tales of this happening when someone reported you (i.e. did you have an issue with your last guest? Do you have something you should not, like an undisclosed camera? etc…).

Best of luck to you. I’d be livid! Air should never do this w/o immediately contacting you vs. letting you discover what happened next time you log in. Ugh!

Hi Aelilya
Thank you for the message. Actually I am a super host for many years with 4.8 star rating. They say my account is linked with a location, property person that doesn’t meet their requirement but I am not aware of what and how ?
I am going to get a lawyer because I am loosing money and my reputation at Airbnb will be destroyed.

I’m taken aback that won’t they walk you through and confirm who you are. You were probably hacked.

I know there are scammers out there.

Someone tried to dup my listing on VRBO but they caught it.

My daughter was trying to rent (LTR) and it looked “too good to be true”. After some checking of country tax records, we saw this person was not the owner (in an LLC) & not an officer of the LLC.

Called the real broker (found on another site), they called Apartments (dot com) and turns out the person/account had duplicated 3 other properties. They were collecting application fees, deposits and personal info. :scream:

The real agent had no idea until we alerted her. BUT, Seems to get this done right with Air requires going way up multiple levels. And hate to say it, but preferably someone located closer to headquarters.

Keep pushing!
