I agree, as long as this one single rating didn’t impact your overall rating too much. For the sake of our mental health, letting it go is a good idea.
No… my very first guest gave me a 3 for having crumbs in my
refrigerator door… I cleaned without having my glasses on…
And one other I believe said with those people giving me a 3 and one
4- the rest all 5’s…
so a grand total of 4.69 for 13 reviews…
Should actually be 4.76 (4.77 if Airbnb rounds up the .769 to .77).
11x5 =55
1x3= 3
1x4= 4
_____
62/13 reviews= 4.769
Oh well… You try your best and that’s all you can do… I will
leave it open for 2 more months but sept/oct it has been dropping dead
silent. (last year) … and you learn to deal with what it is.
thanks for the pointers…

If it were me, I’d call Air and have their review removed (as “there is nothing to do in this town”) is not relevant to your listing. Concerning them “tearing down” your appliances, etc, if they were clean, & all amenities shown in your listing were offered, this could also be cause to have the review removed.
It would be nice if you can share the review, so we can be of more help.
Keep contacting customer service, and explain slowly and succinctly “My guest’s rating was based on their feeling that my town was boring with nothing to do. They are not complaining about my property, but about the number of attractions and shops in my town. That is not relevant for a review, and I am asking you to have the review removed.”
Good point… Yes my fridge and stove all work fine… so the fact they
might want perfect ulta modern ones isn’t fair… "surroundings
“bland” (next to a lighthouse?!!) nothing to do- there is a huge
retroplex-pool/sauna gym- 4 min walk, beach 3 min walk… bath too
low? it’s an antique deep clawfoot!
(french translation)
Beautiful little antique house on the shoreline of the heat bay.
Beautiful view that would benefit from being cleared to see the water
on the full width of the balcony. Chairs on the balcony and kitchen
equipment would need to be renewed. If you plan on cooking, that’s a
bit arduous. For the baths, the too full is really low, so you will
have to hold a washcloth to prevent the bath from emptying. Beautiful
location near the lighthouse and a beach as well as a cheap Seaside
restaurant/canteen at all! However, there is nothing to do in the town
of Dalhousie, it’s rather quiet. There is an independent loblaws
grocery store 3 minutes away by car which is convenient.
There is nothing “bad” about that written review. It is mostly positive, what isn’t is just her opinion, except for not finding the bathtub plug, which she’s entitled to. (Some of which is of course ridiculous- she wants you to cut down trees so there’s a better view from the entire balcony ) I think you may have a hard time getting Airbnb to remove it. It’s just too bad she tanked your ratings.
Unfortunately, there are some people that have figured out this is the way to try to scam owners. They leave a low star rating with a vague or opinionated review that won’t get removed and wait for the owner to contact them with a payment offer so it isn’t extortion. Just like other scammers, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
I don’t know if @Letsgo’s guest is one of those, but I had one that I think wanted me to offer her money back. Her review said the villa “needs maintenance” (nothing specific), “isn’t up to the standard of a vacation rental”, “local food is subpar”, “everything is expensive” and “we didn’t have much privacy” (she hired our cook to make a lot of her meals but was upset the cook made the meals in our house). Not a peep from her until the last night of her stay and she claims she is a host, too.
I didn’t offer anything back - just replied to her review correcting anything I could correct.
I also had a guest who docked me because the overflow drain on my bathtub is set too low. Sounds like she had been looking forward to a long soak in a tub filled to the brim. She kindly advised me that there is a gadget (looks like half of a cup) that you can attach to your overflow drain and it allows the water level in the tub to be a couple of inches higher before it overflows into that drain. I never bothered with it and I can’t find the link right now. But there is such a thing out there if you care!
Oh I found it - here you go.
I wouldn’t offer that to guests. The overflow is there for a reason - to protect against overfilling the tub and causing water damage.
