Individually Wrapped Makeup Wipes

Isn’t that a weird thing? My old mum used to be like that and say that she’d chosen (for instance) a busy patterned carpet because ‘it won’t show the dirt’. If there’s dirt, I want to see it!

I’m unfamiliar with this term and google was unfruitful.

It amazes me because I always used my own (and those in hotels) white washcloths to remove my waterproof mascara in the shower and have NEVER stained one. Most of the time it rinses out by a quick run under the faucet while I’m in the shower before I even wring it out and hang it up. Maybe it’s because I use very cheap $5 mascara and these guests use $25-$50 mascara?

I mind. I would not use those and don’t expect guests to. I use black washcloths that have “makeup” embroidered on them and have lost very few washcloths/towels since. But I thought I’d offer a second option by putting a couple of these with the washcloths.

Yes we do all that and haven’t lost a ton, but thought I’d provide an additional option. I’d never seen the individually wrapped ones. Didn’t know they would be so controversial.

What?! On Airhost forum? LOL.

A J cloth is a semi permanent rag, not unlike those blue contractor wipes (that are machine washable). That’s before cI started shredding towels.

My AirBNB mentor uses cotton rounds purchased at CostCo (I bought them myself to use his method and it works) with make up remover. He has a label on his mirror that says please use make up rounds and remover. He no longer has issues.

I am going to take it a step further and use this too:

Costco white washcloths pack of 24 is the best deal. You can bleach white towels to remove stains and reuse them for awhile.

Meanwhile, individually wrapped make-up remover towelettes promise you wrappers scattered around your property; you can’t reuse them – economically and environmentally not friendly.

Ah shit. Your mother is related to mine.

Twenty seven years one of them lasted.

It was gross.

What do you need a mentor for, you’ve got us

We’re good. Very good in fact.

I’ve already taken a lot of your advice.

Seriously? I’m feeling grateful, between this and the discarded used kleenexes that others have reported. I mean, we are pet friendly, but I’m certainly not expecting a bunch of animals.

I could write a book about the weird things my mum used to say

I think those black makeup cloths are the same ones we have and they have made the biggest difference; almost no stained towels in the 2 years since we’ve had them! I have gone ahead and added 2 of the remover wipes to the container the black cloths are in to give guests a choice.

’ If a washcloth is permanently soiled, I clean them and use them for cleaning rags."

I’ve had cleaners that would fold and put those with the dish towels or wash cloths!

I use a marker and mark an X on the corner so I know they are rags

I actually write “RAG on a corner with a marker and they still did it!
