Host re: fellow host

Browsing reviews of my “completion” here in the Bay Area, I was astounded to see a charming guest with a 4.78 review:
Several complaints re cleanliness
Many re noise and music upstairs after 10 pm - from Hosts!
Literally dozens of complaints about a saggy mattress that made sleeping difficult…
WT*, people? All were politely worded, contained compliments - but the sheer repetition and alluding to guests before them experiencing the same issues.

I gave up after reading only a little more than half of the 253 reviews.

$160 for a 1-BR with kitchenette and garden access, which is which is 33$ less than I charge for a small room in my home, but…?

Am I just being bitc*hy…?

No. Poor cleanliness, saggy mattresses, and hosts who disturb their own guests with noise aren’t acceptable at any price.
But I wonder why guests keep booking it, with such repetitively poor reviews? $160/night doesn’t sound particularly cheap for a 1 bedroom without a full kitchen. (Altho it might be for your area, I don’t know).

$160 for San Francisco is an absolute steal, people would put up with anything for that.

I guess that answers my question as to why people would book it, in spite of the complaints.

It just baffled me why a host would ignore such such easy/cheap fixes…such blatant disregard for guests’ basic comfort.

I guess as long as the bookings keep rolling in, she sees no need for upgrades. Some people are just all about the money. (Like hosts with homeshare listings who ask on hosting forums if it would be okay to have a rule that guests are out of the house between the hours of 10am and 4pm, because they don’t like guests around during the day. If having guests in their home, regardless of the time of day, annoys them, they shouldn’t be homeshare hosts.)
