Very good explanation.
Talking about bulbs, does anybody else use motion-sensitive lighting? I have them in the hallway, they awfy useful.
I have a motion sensor light at home for a double entry walk-in closet - sure makes life easier.
No but I just stayed with a friend who had it in the bathroom I was using. I was taking a shower when the light went off plunging me into darkness. Luckily I donāt spook easily. I canāt say that Iām a fan of it for that room.
Lol. Iām certainly not advocating it for any ālivingā areas, only āmovingā ones, ie, the hallway, where youāre not expected to hang out.
PS: Sorry @Maggieroni, didnāt mean to hijack your thread. Very useful info, but I didnāt see myself discussing the pros and cons between E26 and A19
Well, you need to be more enlightened
Well, youāve thrown enough light on the issue now
As kona said, puns are the lowest formā¦
Your experience gave me a big chuckle. Hey, do you think your friend āriggedā it so it went off at an opportune timeā¦(kkkkk) <(nasty giggle)
Reason I ask is because you can set the timer to go off in 5 min., 15 min., 30 min. etc.
Iām a lowly beingā¦
Who knows. Itās normally the 3rd graders bathroom.
We have motion sensor lights on our front porch and in our back yard. The one in the back yard is mostly activated by our dog when sheās chasing possums or cats.
An oft overlooked benefit of LED light-bulbs is that they donāt throw off as much heat as incandescent bulbs. This saves money because the air conditioning doesnāt need to be on as much.
Iāve just put motion sensor lights in the hall and stairwell. Itās great being able to walk around without having to flick switches and I feel itās safer for guests, but I wonder if turning on and off all the time will affect the lifespan of the globes.
@Astaire my Nest smoke detectors have a āpathlightā feature that lights when it detects motion. Plus I have motion sensitive lights on my garage.
I live in Houston, Texas and we live in air conditioning almost all year long! Almost all the lights in my house are LEDās to save on electricity. And weāve installed an induction cook top for the same reason - very little energy is waster heating the house instead of the pan and food.
Have them mounted on the side of the house and over the drive to light the driveway for late arrivals. Have several small Mr. Beams motion lights hung on the ramp and deck entrance railings, and one with sticky velcro over the keypad, which is hard to see (until you start punching numbers and it lights up) even with the outside door light on. Those Mr. Beams are fantastic, impervious to weather and the batteries seem to last a long time. Have a solar spot shining a light on the house number at the driveway entrance.
I didnāt say it, my hero the Bard did.
I have them in the staircase and the mud roomāplan on installing more of them, but the electrical in this house tends to resemble an enraged octopus, so I have to work myself up to it. I also installed a dusk-to-dawn LED on the guest entrance porch. It would seem they struggle in reading simple directions and theyād be banging on MY door or messaging me at all hours trying to find the clearly marked and amazingly obvious guest entrance. So I installed the dusk-to-dawn light and shut my own porch light down, hoping they would all take the blasted hint and go to the light.
Yeah, epic fail on that one. Now thereās a sign on my own door saying, "NOT THE GUEST ENTRANCEāGO TO YOUR LEFT!"
To date, that has also failed. Probably because my porch is dark at night and they have trouble reading it.
Anyone have one of those Neon arrow lights? In LED?
