I have found that a lot of texts containing run-on sentences are actually voice-activated texts, which have become quite common lately. Often punctuation (commas, periods, etc.) aren’t picked up by the voice recognition software, so you get what appears to be poor English. Also, as someone mentioned earlier, the guest could be using their phone to text, where neglecting punctuation is commonplace as it involves switching back-and-forth between different keyboards on the phone. For these reasons, creating texts with no punctuation seems to have evolved into an accepted practice, especially amongst the younger crowd.
