Guests without phone app -- again

I know, and of course I thought about it. But what can you do when they don’t know how the heck the whole system works AND bring in extra people. I am pretty sure the daughter will help her with the review. She totally gets it.

It seems like a lot of people mistakenly believe all Airbnb’s are entire, vacant, completely private houses where they can bring as many people as they want free of charge and do anything they want like throw parties and bring pets.

We really try to avoid the guests in town to hook up. What do they think, I’m not going to notice the random “girlfriend” walking out the door in the morning? The last time it happened, it was kinda sad. Sometimes an outfit that was great for Saturday night just doesn’t look right in the cold light of day. . .

But a recent one made me laugh, because at least he told me ahead of time:
Guest: “I would love to reserve your cottage for 25-28 Oct. It will just be two guys staying at the home and we’ll probably spend most of our time enjoying the festivities in the area. However, I noticed that your listing states no additional overnight guests. I have a girlfriend that lives close to Savannah who I might want to bring over instead of making her drive back to Pooler if we’re hanging out late at night. She has to work each day that I’m down there which is why she’s not staying with me but I would like to know if there will be a problem if I did let her stay with me just to rest so she doesn’t have to get on the road late at night?”
Me: “Of course your girlfriend is welcome to stay over! All you need to do is alter the reservation so it’s 3 guests instead of 2. Easy.”
Guest: “Unfortunately we decided to book another property downtown.”

@Debthecat That’s awesome! Did they just find you or did you approach the hospital?

I approached them, they inspected- went from there

Welp, as usual, bad communication equals not-great guests. My checkout checklist is a no brainer – load the dishwasher, hang up any wet towels, leave the sheets on the beds and take out the trash. The only thing on the checklist they followed was leaving the sheets on the beds. Thumbs down. Oh, and the a/c was cranked down to 68F, despite the note on both thermostats to not set them below 73F for fear of freezing the compressors, something I cover during the walk-through. They were hours late picking up the bags they left, too. Oh, well, nice repeat guests arrive tomorrow.
