I’ll bet that was made up too!
I do not think it takes much to get a cancellation on that basis.

It got worse - she told me that there was an illness in the family; that was the reason for cancelling / delaying the trip. But she didnt cancel. I pushed airbnb but they wouldnt cancel on her behalf. When they finally got in touch with her (after her booking started) she told them and me that she didnt want to cancel in case she came later in the booking.
On day 7 of a 9 day booking she cancelled.
The medical certificate shown did not validate an illness in the family; it related to HER OWN anxiety. Airbnb still upheld it/
Basically, she could have doctor shopped for the certificate. And I then had to take the hit as her travel insurance.
It was over easter too so a lucrative period.
I need to let it go but it makes me so angry.

That’s pretty vague. Who doesn’t have anxiety? Some doctors don’t care and will write you a note for anything. Airbnb is so lax in their qualifications for “extenuating circumstances” because it’s not coming out of their pocket. I don’t blame you for being angry. I would be too!
One of the reasons I do not get too excited over cancellation policies, and do not take long term bookings, too risky.
