I have the exactly same fear 
I donāt mind if my guests are late or early at all as long as they tell me about it.
What i hate the most is no communication even when my greeting message asks them to tell me their checkin time, and then send me a text when they literally are STANDING IN FRONT OF THE ENTRANCEā¦ I agree that they are less experienced travellers and treat us like hotels, but weāre NOT.
