I also got thin quilts from Big Lots as I am unable to stuff a duvet into a duvet cover. I like that I can wash the quilts between guests. A lot of things can pass through a duvet cover; spills, particularly strong tobacco smoke smell, women’s monthly cycle, etc.
Am the exact same, that’s why in one year had to buy a new dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. My guests often comment on seeing me with washing hanging out of me. I just tell them, well at least you can see I wash everything for my guests.
I had 2 girls stay with me a month ago, again last week, they were here for training. Some of the other students had to sleep in their clothes as the bed linen was so dirty and stained in their airbnb’s.
This is what I do. There are two sheets, however, the duvet is also covered, and that zip-on cover is washed after every guest as well.
