Guests re-arranging things in my kitchen (live-in host rant)

It is beyond rude. I would absolutely hate it.

Just cut a paste the comment you posted here into your listing Airbnb. That should solve all your future problems.

I had a terrible guest once declare everything in the guest suite was “clutter disguised as decor” and she needed to move it all to make the space “habitable” and “hygienic.” Proceeded to leave horrible private feedback. They stole my shampoos and big sprays and left wet towels on the vintage furnishings. Nice!

Why do we do this again? Oh yeah… the cash… the cold hard cash.

In my Inverted Pyramid of Rules the last I send is an email the day they leave, first saying, thank you for coming, I hope you had a good time. Then please help me and:

  1. clean and put back all dishes,
  2. put all furniture and objects where you found them,
  3. put all used sheets and towels in the bathtub so I know which ones to clean.

Like children, it helps if you tell guests what you expect.

Not saying you are wrong but a guidebook with the rules about how you expect the place to be left on the front page isn’t the dumbest thing to do.
