That’s simply not understanding the cultural heritage and history correctly.
Ukraine has had a complex existence and many different countries have fought over it, annexed it and ruled over it but it is in Europe and is deffo considered being part of European culture. Say Scandinavia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany -countries that are associated with the country throughout its history (to name some)
After the Sovjet Union’s collapse in 1991 - nearly 30 years ago - it has been an independent European country. 30 years ago!
And saying this makes my eyes bleed and my heats weeps!
A technicality and name change Wut the actual f*** ??
The creation of the Union was a massive achievement and far from the original idea of 6 countries dealing steel and coal freely. I suggest you look it up and see that its NOT a technicality with a name change
I had to comment on your completely misunderstood views as a man brought up in the Bruxelles with parents working the EU and Nato - now living in Scandinavia - where we learn and cherish our European history.
Please don’t take it personally as I get very emotional about white-washing history and I know I get a bit carried away and exited.
You are seeing this “early check in” as if a person who gets to have a room few hours earlier actually " assumes" or " expects " or " demands" or " doesn’t want to pay".
People arrive early after transatlantic flight and just go straight to hotel because they have a luggage. I see guests in lobby with their luggage waiting for checking or when their room is ready all the time. They check in and ussualy they don’t even have to ask as front desk people often just give guests keys If room is ready.
Ussualy I don’t even have to ask ,I am offered if this is hotel policy. And I am offered very often,it’s not an unusual situation. If there is a charge front desk offers me that too and I pay If I need room earlier.
In one hotel they even offered me free breakfast and when I asked how much it is they told me it’s ok, I can have it free because I arrived so early.
I too would have been grateful to that host. Whether she asked for it or not, I also would have insisted on paying her for the previous night. Not doing so would make me feel like I was taking advantage of someone just because I could.
So you think I took advantage of the host? Is this what you are saying. ? So I am a bad inconsiderate person because taking advantage of poor hosts who don’t know what they are doing and afraid to say no?
Why would you offer to pay if the host offered it herself ? Why would you even think you are taking advantage of checking in earlier IF it’s ok with a host? I paid her for airport pickup .Because she said so. Does it make it better ? Or I am still taking advantage of the host?
I hope we can all agree that just because Yana is able to get early check in at the places where she stays has limited application to other cases.
One, no one else is Yana and in her situation or hotel or Airbnb. Every Airbnb is different as is every host and every guest. There is little point in arguing with Yana about it.
Two, lets not lose sight of the original complaint. The OP is complaining about someone not respecting their check in time and not only expecting to check in at an unreasonable time but also letting herself in and the complaining. Surely no host feels that they have to put up with this sort of nonsense just because a host somewhere let Yana do something.
Three, most of us with a single room are simply not able to accomodate early morning check ins both because there is a chance of a guest being in there and because we need time to turn the room over. I get so many last minute bookings that I couldn’t commit to a free early check in if I was willing to give that time away for free.
Noone implies that early check-in should be granted If Yana gets early check in. The whole discussion with Yana started because people started saying that no hotel gives early checkins . . Yana gets as many early check-ins as the rest of the population. Yana is not an exclusion to the rules or in any way somehow special or in anyway behaving differently that millions of other travelers.
What for me is peculiar how we have so many hosts here who wouldn’t even ask for early checking and feel like they have to go beyond and above to compensate host who doesn’t even expects it but does it out of hospitality. but so many bad bad guests who dare asking for it. Asking was never a crime. It doesn’t mean a guest have a sense of entitlement or expects anything or demands. They just ask. Just say No if you can’t.
The endless argument start people who say things without actual knowledge of what’s is reality. And reality is that at least 50% of hotels I stayed in ( yes,not 10%) and 30% of Airbnbs allow early check-ins as well as myself.
