However, for me the idea that “the world is a dangerous place” doesn’t apply to having paying guests. I realise that I am in a safe area/country and my listing is not going to attract scammers or party people or anyone looking to be bad so what I say probably seems hollow.

I don’t see why paying guests can’t be dangerous. I agree it’s not very likely. And how do you know your listing can’t attract scammers?

I agree with that, but I don’t see a contradiction here. Having your home trashed is better than nuclear war (for example). That doesn’t mean it can’t be annoying. The trashing, not the nuclear war, just to be clear.
