It’s Dec. 8 when they leave…so just 10 days left! Yay!
Yayyyy! I’ll get more champagne!!! Cheers!!!
Oils and sauces cost money. Even if they were allowed to cook, they must use their own produce, not to ask a host to borrow his/ her
In my experience, both Japanese and Chines are particularly focused on their own food.Neither country has a history of foriegn food influences through colonialization.
That being said, the odors live on.
A little known trick to really get rid of the smell is ammonia. A gas dissolved in water, the ammonia evaporates and neutralizes odors and then disappears… shallow bowls set around the house ( while you are out) will ‘fumigate’ your place and defeat the smell. May take a couple of days, but this does work.
FIVE MORE DAYS…!!!
Thanks, ill have to try that after they leave…which is Tuesday! Just a few more days! Yay!!
I don’t anticipate many bookings this month so that’ll give me time to rid my house of these odors caused by their excessive cooking. I will also need to call my cleaning service over to give my house a professional cleaning.
Wow… Did you make any money at all on this booking? Live and learn!
Kona
No I don’t think I did…in fact i may have LOST money…yes, live and learn…and let this be a heads up to those reading this post, this is a caution about accepting guests like the ones I’m describing…
When people say inside and cook, run water/appliances all day, the returns are taken away by higher water and utility bills, and cleaning services.
Well my guests are getting a kick out off my Christmas decorations… I have my 7-foot tall snow covered tree up, all lit and decorated…the son took pictures of his parents by the tree. I also have my outdoor lights and decorations out…the neighbors also decorated their houses. Definitely Christmas decorations are something new to them!
How funny.
Well, I hear you… when my sons come home from college my electric bill doubles. They have plugged in their giant gaming rigs which use more power than the battlestar gallactica.
I could see the son asking you for another month or two. Hey why not? Your place was so cheap and all utilities and appliances are FREE!
Cooking chinese food to your heart’s content!!! NOT! Don’t you dare rent to another guest like this!!!
At least they will have fond family memories in front of the Christmas tree! Bahahahahahhhh…
Out of the question. If they try to extend their stay…no way! It does not appear they will, as from the looks of things they are preparing for their departure, they took boxes to the UPS store to send down to their apartment in Virginia, and my refrigerator has less and less stuff of theirs in it (it used to be packed with their stuff!) but now there’s more room for MY stuff than there was before.
Just kidding…
What a nightmare… You’ll never make this mistake again, Kasage!
I think in your review… you ought to be honest. Just say that you didn’t realize the parents would be there all the time, taxing your utilities and cooking with spices. Or at least let the son know in private feedback.
Counting down the days now!
Also try wiping down any available surface with white vinegat and water mix.
That’s very true. I was just telling my husband that my water bills is higher by 13$ this months with all the guests I had and I had a busy November. With my cooks back in Jily it was almost 40$ more just for 2 weeks. And gas for 80$ more. I still made money but at what price.
That’s one good thing about living in the uk - most properties in cities and large towns are on a set water & waste water price as there is no where to put a water meter (our property is early Victoria era)
Kirsty, have you ever read “The Ghost Map?” Fascinating account of London’s early years as a developing city… and how they were able to pinpoint a cholera epidemic to a single spigot on a single well.
That’s interesting I’ll have to look it up
I’ve had this happen with a couple chinese guests, dr’s doing rotation, or well they were all dr’s. i have cameras in my hallways to see who enters the building. I knew her parents were coming, i didn’t think anything of it. they must have had everything they own in the world and brought it with them, i saw them bringing box after box into my building, huge boxes. they dried laundry in the main hallway or on my 100+ year old wooden bannisters…
Indian dr’s seem to do the same, and throw their garbage in the closets, i guess they are used to doing it in the street back in India.
I actually fired a housecleaner for not finding pizza boxes in the closet. well i didn’t fire her, i informed her that for 3 months, there’s been pizza in the closet, she got mad and quit. they do that alot. she said, "well we don’t go in the closets’, well since the clean sheets are in there, yes you would have to.
you have to remind people constantly that this is not your house, there is not junk everywhere, if you see junk, it shouldn’t be there. they are used to their dirty homes, i guess.
Kasage: HEY TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Hip Hip HOOOORRRRAY!!!
Yes!!! Oh how nice it was coming home from work and finding them not here!! after all that, I had today blocked out, to have some recovery time!
