Fireplaces - emerging availability problem in budget property

Victorian home, three marble fireplaces with cast iron registers.
In all my house rules- fireplaces are not usable and my insurance will not cover them.

We have an authentic (ancient) Franklin stove in our listing. I bought a “infared quartz log set heater (with realistic ember bed)” and put that in the stove. Turns on and off with a remote. Give a faux fire look and can put out heat. We did not want people starting fires in our house. Also states in the listing and rules that the fireplace is decorative only.

This sounds like a great idea to me, @cjmart.

We have had much the same experience. My caretaker gets fussy about the fireplace usage and tells me I should limit it, but with over 3/4th of our guests coming from Florida, they have mentioned that they appreciate the fireplace when they are up North.

Really good idea. Thank you.
