I am mystified (not a criticism). But what is it that creeps you out ( to be specific, what creeps you out on what I posted, a virtual concierge ??). [BTW, I can’t get it to work (well). Does that make it less creepy?]

yes i’m not a fan of those things, and usually those services (Alexa or Siri) are unhelpful and end up being frustrating to use. Siri also has no clue about what restaurants are actually good, nor has she tried the wine in local wineries to give an experienced opinion. A personalised welcome book is how you give the “live like a local” experience. I have Siri on my phone if I truly need her (she is not active on my phone, I don’t need her help often).

Sharing what a friend is using. I think it is a bit expensive so not cost justified for my listing but her listing is a high end property so well worth the $$

Just my 2 cents:
is the screen portable, or do they have to stand there and read stuff? I don’t see how this is superior to a guest manual. Guests can sit on the couch with a cuppa and flip through my manual, which also has flyers from local wineries/attractions, which they can take out and use as a resource when they physically drive somewhere. Or they can just use their own phone…

All guest messaging must go through ABB so you can prove a chain of communication.

This is not going to be a hit with Boomers. I find even communicating via the app with them to be a challenge at times, because they don’t have their phones in their hands 24/7 like younger guests do. An “old school” manual of printed sheets of paper is something everyone can manage.

Each to their own of course.

Yes, it appears to be wall mounted, so someone would have to stand there to read it or pull up a chair in front of it. Personally I’d hate it. While I would enjoy reading through a guest manual while sitting at the table having my coffee, or even flipping through it propped up on pillows in bed.

And the 4 reviews of the product on the website are all from corporate entities, 2 from the CEOs of those management companies, who have doubtless never even spoken to an real live guest.

But hey, if someone wants to run entirely impersonal strs, each to his own, as you say.

The world is changing around us. The information board is not meant to be all things to all people.

The property is high end, more posh than I will ever have unless I win the lottery. The host has both the info board & a notebook. She caters to both tech savvy & those wanting the tactile experience of a book.

These info boards are becoming more common. Patient/guest information boards are becoming more common in medical facilities with nifty functionality like way-finding & general information like where to get a meal.

I won’t be adding the board because of cost & lack of space. It’s not a good fit for my tiny budget condo. But I like it. I see it’s potential.

Exactly. Airbnbs are different from one another and that’s their blessing and their curse. I made a mistake on my recent trip and booked an Airbnb with no coffee allowed. That’s right, “no brewing coffee” was a rule. The Airbnb was fine in every way but if I’d taken notice of that, I’d have booked something else. And you know what? That Airbnb would still be in business.
