Thank you so much! It means a lot because that’s a photo I took with my phone out of my kitchen window. No filters, I swear. An absolutely fantastic sunset.

Even better then!!!
I think it helps in the same way that having a little higher price helps. If nothing else a teaspoon of sugar helps the medicine go down; it makes the hard times more bearable. And if you don’t want to charge more just think of it as a way to raise money for pets in need.
A motivated owner isn’t going to think twice about a reasonable fee. I started at $10 a night, then went to $15. I give discounts for multiple pets or nights, $25 for 2 nights instead of $30. It also helps when there is more work with cleaning. Some dogs seem to have hardly been there. Others shed like crazy or scatter kibble under the furniture or have an accident. And someone trying to decide between your listing and another one might choose yours just based on your support of a rescue.
And you can always charge less or even refund if someone is exceptionally clean or well behaved.
What I have started doing is offering to refund part of the pet fees if there are no issues. I generally match it to the long term discounts I give such as 10, 15 or 20% depending on the length of time.
10 - weekly
15 - 2 weeks
20 - monthly
I also intentionally do not say “no pet related issues” sonic they are problematic they are less likely to be so knowing they could get a refund.
My fees are $15/pet/night for house trained and $25/night for not.
At my farm where I also have animals (and rent a private room and private bathroom) I have not yet had guest pets since instituting the percentage refund but I charge $20/$30 because it is more of a hassle with my animals there, and because I also welcome horses. My discounts there are lower (5/10/15).
@KKC and @Militaryhorsegal Thank you both for the perspectives and insight. I’m going to consider it. I really appreciate the help!
But now, there’s a muy importante baseball game on. Altuve!!!
Have a great night
