"Damn me with faint praise" booking request

#1

All it said was “All the hotels seem to be full.”
I guess the “So I am forced to stay at your wretched hovel” was just implied.

Well, Airbnb does ask them why they are booking your place. Do they get some honesty points?

I would place a huge cardboard box in front of your rental unit, with the sign: “Special VIP suite reserved for (guest’s name).” Decorate the box with a welcome mat, potted flowers, etc.

Do you have an outdoor video camera to tape that guest’s reaction?

Sometimes it’s worth doing crazy things to mean people, even if you lose a guest booking.

Well, on the bright side, at least their expectations seem low, so maybe you’ll earn that “better than expected” in the review.

Hopefully you were aware that the hotels were full so had put your prices up?

I “liked” your post because it made me laugh!
It is true that the interface is not user friendly for newbie guests - it’s not always clear whether your response is visible to the host or just to airbnb.

Hope they find your hovel acceptable

It’s so bad I made a separate thread about it.

Ha - I’m leaving for DC in a few minutes for work, and couldn’t find a hotel to save my life two weeks ago. So, true. I’m sure they will be very pleasantly surprised by your wretched hovel
