Commission for recommended local activities, experiences as additional revenue source. Can it work?

I can’t imagine any business in my bustling tourist town paying a commission for this. They all advertise on Facebook for free and local businesses and activities can be easily found by Googling.

Additionally, I wouldn’t want someone else to be in charge of businesses recommended to my guests, because there are local businesses I would warn my guests not to patronize.

And I’m not interested in making money off my guests for local recommendations. It’s information that good hosts provide for free to their guests. Everything doesn’t have to be monetized.

Just… don’t.

Like clockwork, every few weeks someone comers here with their brilliant idea to make a website/app/booklet to ‘help’ hosts make money doing something that is already available to airbnb folks. This ‘idea’ - that a host wants to make money by ‘recommending’ local things to their guests is off the mark…

Not sure about your town. Platforms like Viator, Getyourguide, TUI Musement have good coverage across bigger cities and do pay.

Just like with any CMS, hosts are supposed to administrate content that is there. So it’s up to them what to recommend. And if to get commission for it or ignore it.

Could you elaborate why?

We’ve had too many people here with a ‘brilliant’ idea and this is not the place to solicit free research.

Do your research in a more professional manner.
