Why looka here! If I wasnt a polite person, I might say we have a rich white man expressing ill informed, misleading and bigoted views from canned right wing talking points. Yes indeed its a great idea for an unelected bipolar autistic savant with 13 children - some of whom are named XYz 24 or some foolishness --to bull into the federal government with a wrecking ball. Led by 19 year old “Big Balls” and other little white supremacists. Musk stays awake for a week at a time then crashes. So afraid of being shot he carries around a meat shield - his 4 year old son- on his shoulders. Musk high as a kite on ketamine. Gods save us.
Only one error in your post. Musk isn’t a savant. He hasn’t designed anything, he’s not a rocket scientist. He’s just a visionary businessman who is good at finding really smart people to work for him. And a megolomaniac and racist. And I just read someone who knows him saying he’d estimate Musk’s IQ at between 100-110. Hardly genius territory. Musk is more on the Asperbergers end of the spectrum- functional, but socially inept.
In fact, true autistic savants are very rare, and usually quite severely autistic, to the point they can’t really function on their own. I knew a kid who was an autistic savant, he went to my daughter’s daycare. He did not relate to the other kids at all, never made eye contact, hardly spoke, he played by himself and was still in diapers at the age of 3 and a half. But he had been able to read anything from the age of one. You could hand him War and Peace and he could read it aloud. It was unexplainable.
His mom said she had no idea if he even understood a word of what he was reading. She knew there was something not normal about him when he was a baby, but one day she was parked in front of a store that had posters in the window advertising some sale, and her 1 year old in his car seat, who had barely ever spoken at all, started repeating everything that was written on the signs.
And when I ran into them at the grocery store a couple years later, she told me he was being studied at the university because he was such a rare and fascinating case.
@muddy I don’t want to assume anything but wanted you to be more clear on this statement. Are you saying that someone that has been diagnosed as having Aspergers, which by the way, is no longer the term used by the American Psychiatric Association when making a diagnosis for autism, is just “functional and socially inept?”
ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) has been the term since 2013. I am asking because my son has an IQ of a genius and was diagnosed with Aspergers 12 years ago. I was happy that they actually did away with the Aspergers diagnosis because my son is a high functioning, neurodivergent adult. Most people that meet him would never know he has autism. As a child, he learned to “mask” the symptoms that often led to not having friends and bullying. Because of his high IQ, he has avoided peers almost his entire life and leaned toward adult friendships. And, yes, he was somewhat socially inept, but there are so many degrees of that. In fact, to this day, he is really annoyed with autistic adults that are very socially inept. He’s 25 now, and over 85% of his friendships are over the age of 30.
Oh no, @soflohost, I was specifically referring to Musk as being functional but socially inept (because some people think of those with autism as their neuro-divergence being quite evident, which it often isn’t, or having standard symptoms). I didn’t mean it as a general description.
I know several people on the autism spectrum (and also with ADHD) and I know there are all kinds of ways that neuro-divergencies present, both obvious and/or unnoticeable to others.
There are also plenty of people who are socially inept for other reasons, having nothing to do with neuro-divergency.
I always wondered what the pro Trump voters thought. Where do you get your information? I would like to know and read it too.
I see a world of trouble coming down never the less.
You reap what you sew, I’m thinking.
Couldn’t have put it better, Rolf!
I just read on Forbes that gebbio sold 30+$ million in shares on Feb 25. I doubt if those are the greater part of his holdings.
I had read that he owned 7% of the Airbnb shares. Don’t know what that represents in $.
He needs to resign from the BOD and as head of Airbnb.org. I hope he’s being pressured to do so.
Airbnb put out one statement I’m aware of that just said Gebbia’s politics do not represent Airbnb. But as long as he has his finger in the company, that’s not good enough. As a director, he helps set policy.
" FORBES VALUATION
Forbes currently values Gebbia’s net worth at $8.6 billion, due largely to his 7% stake in Airbnb."
So 30 mil is chump change to him.
yes, bs “symbolic”
dogggey sh
@muddy He apparently has resigned from Airbnb.org
Airbnb Co-Founder Joe Gebbia Is Stepping Down From Airbnb.org
That’s a start. But he’s still on the Airbnb Board of Directors. He needs to go.
@muddy Totally agree!
