Change in Nondiscrimination Policy Re: Age and Familial Status

JJD my rules say we have a nearby pond, fire ants , rattlesnakes, bears and alligators- all true :joy:-- and also that terrain is rutted with hidden hazards such as old barbed wire fencing .I dont have instant book and when accepting reservations I ask them first to acknowledge in writing they have read the all information and the house rules. I had a toddler only once and his Dad set up a mini bounce house inside for him. If teenagers want to book , why by golly , the well usually goes on the fritz. It does happen often :+1:

Sounds like most hosts are pretty frustrated with this change. A lot of people have legit concerns about younger guests causing damage or kids being in places that aren’t safe for them, but now Airbnb is saying you can’t set age or family restrictions unless a law requires it. Feels like another move where Airbnb is putting guests over hosts without much warning or explanation. Some are talking about workarounds, like focusing on safety concerns instead of hard rules, but overall, it’s just another headache for hosts trying to protect their spaces.

Solutions: NO instant booking
Contact with potential guest
Questions - to try to get an idea of the reason for the visit etc

Get out of AirBnB - we did, and now use a UK agency that allows us to set age limits
If in the USA pray each night!!!

Which agency do you use?

1 guests don’t read
2 I just did a test search for my sleeps 12 heritage home with 5 adults and 4 children under 12.
My home was the first to come up and the listing raved about kids using the pool, the large garden, the board games. Nothing came up about them not being completely welcome!!!
I am going tohave a careful look at my wording and try to discourage families with children with out being discriminatory.
Really really angry about this!
